This section of the site (Tier 1) is open to everyone without registration, login, or an email/name gate. We do not know who you are, and we have deliberately designed it this way — see below.

What we measure

We use Umami, a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics tool running on our own domain (not a third-party service like Google Analytics). It records:

  • Page views and approximate visit duration
  • Referrer (which site or search engine sent you here) and general traffic source
  • Browser and device type (e.g. mobile/desktop), and operating system
  • Approximate country/region derived from your IP address at the moment of the request — the IP address itself is not stored
  • Two specific interactions: clicks on the crisis-referral links in the banner, and a signal when you finish reading a lesson (recorded only as an anonymous daily count per lesson, e.g. “14 people finished Lesson 3 today” — never tied to who you are)

What we do NOT collect

  • No name, email, or any account information on this tier
  • No cookies and no cross-site tracking
  • No way to link a specific visitor to the specific lessons they read

Your reading progress (which lessons you have marked as read, and the one-lesson-at-a-time unlocking) is stored only in your own browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device and we cannot see it. You can clear it any time with the “Start over” button in the sidebar.

Do Not Track

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the analytics script is not loaded at all.

Data retention

Detailed analytics session/event data is retained for up to 24 months and then deleted. The anonymous daily lesson-completion counts (which carry no personal data) may be retained indefinitely for research reporting purposes.
